FBF, Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($71.7M 3-day, $103.1M 4-day) continues to pace behind 2015’s Force Awakens (-30%) and significantly ahead of last year’s Rogue One (+26%) with a $399.7M running total by Monday. ON RT, only 52% LIKE it too :!: You'd better start spinning it nationwide to improve it's box office here.

$175 million behind TFA.

We took the nieces and nephews to Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle today. A lot of fun. Nebula from Guardians of the Galaxy was hot.
If the Grands and grandkids want to see Star Wars well go tomorrow.

Go as many times to see VIII as you can. I may go past 11 viewings if I can.

Man this is the first Star Wars movie I really don’t like. First time I left not caring about the next installment. Even with the prequels I had hope they’d get better next time.
I’m all for the franchise but I’m not going to pour money into it just cause it’s Star Wars.
I’ll see it again just to see if I like it better or if the story works better.
Enough people feel the same to cost Disney the over $175 million they should have easily made. Something like 19 million people didn’t go back or go in the first place. My brother easily took his kids 5 times to TFA, he wouldn’t go today, he’s the reason we switched to Jumanji. Which everybody did enjoy considering the type of movie it is.

I haven't seen it yet, but I heard there's a lot of one-sided politics with overt liberal values in it slamming conservatives, hence my reason not to see it is farther established.

I had to think for a minute to know what you were talking about. The closest thing I can think of to a political message was the revelation that the rebellion gets its arms from the same people who supply the First Order. I suspect that the idea of arms dealers supplying both sides won't be news to most people.

Look at the bright side. Rian Johnson, writer and director of VIII, will not return for the next one.

I saw it this morning and didn't like it. Just found it bland. But I can see how this film has loony left-wing politics. It's got this business of gender politics. I'm all for having good characterizations, including the female characters. But here they deal with the female characters through gender politics. The women are either in positions of power or strong and resourceful, but the men are wimps. Vanity Fair (another left-leaning rag) had an article recently applauding the gender politics. The article is titled "Star Wars: The Last Jedi Offers the Harsh Condemnation of Mansplaining We Need in 2017." The Luke Skywalker in this film is a whiny teary-eyed old man, like he's no longer got strength of leadership. Then there's the subplot (and I'll keep this vague to avoid spoilers) about endangered horse-like creatures and some class warfare shtick (it has something to do with a casino for the ultra-rich). In other words, you've got the claptrap about environmentalism and income inequality. Even before the film's release, Mark Hamill went into his political rants, trashing Trump in a tweet or something, then he got into a tweet war with Ted Cruz, who spanked him big time, obviously hurting the Jedi's ego. Bottom line: his rants obviously alienated a segment of the fandom who don't share his views. What an idiot. I remember seeing the first one back in 1977. Pure escapism. There was none of this political noise.

I can’t think of anything that was overt. The gambling planet and arms dealers would be the closest it comes.

Hamill is a pathetic, weaselly liberal, who should keep his yap shut tight :!: He might be the reason this film tanked at the box office. They feminized Luke? :hair: They want men to relate to Rey? :hair:  This feminization of the American male must stop once and for all :!: SPOILER causing outrage by fans: click space below to reveal it. :

I don't think the amount of box office gross the film brought could be considered a "tanking". It's only seven million bucks shy of being $900 Million on its worldwide gross. Not getting a dime from me, however. They can take their "liberal valued" product and shove it. That's my major problem with DC's Arrowverse shows, as well. Feminizing and emasculating the male image so it can appeal to the snowflake crowd. No thanks!

I agree about Hamill, though. In fact, I see 98% of the Hollywood celebrities as idiots who keep insisting on "equality", "human rights" and stuff and how Trump is "evil". Either entertain, or just shut up. If they want to keep talking about politics, maybe they should pursue a political career and run for an office, because I sure as hell didn't ask for their views.

In a universe far, far away, compared to TFA, you bet your light saber this film is tanking big time. I thought it would top $1 billion in the USA alone. It might struggle to get to $800 million here. That's a big number, but not SW proper numbers, in this environment. My friend just saw it and said it was OK.

It’s not tanking by any means. Maybe not getting 2 billion dollars, that’s a different matter I feel is related to poor story telling nothing to do politics cause I really didn’t see politics in the movie. Maybe there are spots it can be read into it but that might be a stretch for either political persuasion.
They didn’t feminize Luke they pissed the character away in a very lazy way to make room for the new stars.

Mark Hamill is a ass mouthing off like he had maybe this is the real reason for his story arc. I doubt it. IMO his opinions are only given attention because of his celebrity, as a fan of his work voice acting and star wars I hate it but I’m sure he feels the same about me so I try to let it go.

Big O, there are 9 SW films, including Rogue One. Where do you rank this Last Jedi film in numerical order?

Got some more maintenance to the front page done tonight. If you all could take look at it and let me know what you think I would appreciate it. The color pallet had to shift because the script edits for the font and background color were lost in the move. Also had to root out thousands of spam comments somehow those managed to survive the server transition and the edits to the theme we really needed were lost. At least the page seem to be loading fast.
