Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
Yeah, reading it again, the wording doesn't make sense. It was confirmed back in May that Hodge would write the screenplay ( here ) when EON were announcing Boyle as director, so "bringing in his frequent collaborator John Hodge" can't have been the final cause of Boyle leaving. I suppose it could have made relations a bit more frosty, but you're probably right Kris.
Edit: I'm not even sure they were suggesting the use of Hodge was a major problem. It's just the way that quote ran on from the one about the casting confused me!

Yup! Babs and co. are f**king up the franchise big time. No director, and by the looks of it no script, unless they fall back on one that P&W have supposedly done which was shelved.
By this rate Craig won't be returning to Bond until 2020....a 5 year gap! EON cannot make these movies anymore, they are done, and so is Craig.
It's time to sell up the franchise to someone who cares about Bond, who knows what they are doing, and knows how to get films made without having to wait 4 to 5 years for each film, pandering to the ego of the actor and director, and not knowing how to get a decent script commissioned.
They also are apparently not aware of the still previous untapped Fleming material that could be used as an emergency script in a heartbeat.
Useless!!!

A CBS Sports spokesperson told USA TODAY Sports this week that it also does "not" plan to televise the playing of The Star-Spangled Banner as part of its weekly NFL broadcasts, which is the same approach it has taken in recent years To hell with the CBS Les Moonves network

I don’t get the extended gaps in making a movie, it’s not like they had a grand plan or story arc. I think the marvel movie series have changed people minds on Hollywood planning and speed which making a movie takesThe Sweeney wrote:Yup! Babs and co. are f**king up the franchise big time. Continuing its decline into irrelevance, ratings for the MTV Video Music Awards show crashed and burned to another record low earning its smallest audience on record since its 1980s debut. This year’s VMA’s drew a pitiful 5 million viewers despite airing on eight separate cable networks, according to entertainment industry newspaper The Hollywood Reporter. “For the second straight year, the MTV Video Music Awards drew its smallest audience ever,” the Reporter said. Monday’s show drew 2.25 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. Across eight Viacom-owned channels, it drew 4.87 million viewers and a 2.2 in the demo; both sets of numbers fall short of the 2017 VMAs, which set the previous low.

Welcome back Sweeney.
Let's hope they don't waste any more of that precious untapped Fleming material. They'd better not use it until they get a new actor, more true to Fleming's descriptions of the character, and this happens:The Sweeney wrote:They also are apparently not aware of the still previous untapped Fleming material that could be used as an emergency script in a heartbeat.

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I think as you said here before Omega, they ran out of book titles. Yes, as Sweeney said there's still some Fleming material left, as well as four (I think?) short story titles, but in the past, when they managed a Bond movie every year or two, it was a simple case of picking a Fleming book and changing the story as little or as much as they wanted. There were also plenty of new stunts and ideas to use that hadn't been seen before on the big screen.Omega wrote: I don’t get the extended gaps in making a movie, it’s not like they had a grand plan or story arc. You probably know by now that I hate remakes and reboots but I wouldn't mind seeing some new movie recreations of the Fleming books that stuck much closer to the content and style of the book, even to the point of setting it in the late 40s and 50s, complete with Bond's Bentley 4 1/2 liter in battleship gray. Of course, it's doubtful that will ever happen because it wouldn't have enough widespread appeal at the box office. Maybe a TV series would be more doable.

Insects known as triatomines, also known as "kissing bugs," are starting to become more common in the U.S. — but don't let their seemingly affectionate nickname fool you. These blood-suckers spread a dangerous illness called Chagas disease. The disease, which has spread to the U.S., was previously only found in "Central and South America and Mexico." At least 8 million people have been infected in those areas, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. And an estimated 300,000 Americans in the U.S. also have the disease, a recent news release from the American Heart Association states.

Jonathan Pryce is quoted in the Daily Mail as saying that the producers parted company with Boyle because "they obviously couldn't take a socialist Bond. There are the Dannys of this world and then there are people who do the blockbusters," continued Pryce, who played the villainous Elliot Carver in 1997's Tomorrow Never Dies. Boyle has never concealed his left-leaning sympathies, though he declined to identify himself as a socialist in a 2013 interview. His opening ceremony for the 2012 London Olympics featured a Bond-based short and a set-piece tribute to the National Health Service. The film may not now be released "until late 2020", according to the Hollywood Reporter's 'unnamed' sources.
