Even if it didn't too as well as they hoped they wouldn't fire Craig the next day and cast Henry Cavill. It just isn't going to happen. LTK did poorly in the US but they didn't sack Dalton. He was still Bond until 1994.
Dalton (whom I very much enjoyed as Bond, by the way) wasn't in the same contractual situation as Craig, though. Craig has an option for the fourth movie exactly for the reason they will see how the third goes and then BOTH parties will make a decision on whether to go on or not. And I do not think they will cast Henry Cavill the day after, I actually think they're ALREADY working on who is going to be Bond next and they'll announce it whenever they decide Craig's time is over (which could be after Skyfall or after a fourth movie). So I think Cavill is most definitely already in contact with them, just like others are I'm sure, for the role. It's hilarious how people think the casting just happens within five minutes (I'm not talking about you of course, I'm talking about the average fanboy...) of an actor leaving. That most certainly isn't the case. Cubby kept talking to possible candidates even when he had an established Bond like Connery and they have kept talking to candidates throughout the whole time... whoever is going to get it after Craig (hopefully Cavill) is most certainly not "news" to MGM, Sony or EON.
I don't think Skfyall is going to bomb either, I think it's just going to do subpar at the box office, but not bomb. It's still a Bond movie.

Wasn't it announced yesterday that Craig had been signed up to do the next two Bonds films after Skyfall?

The options still stand, in fact the Deadline story on Craig specifies that the question now is WHETHER Craig will become the actor to have the longest run as Bond. That's how prolonging works. Only if box office is good contracts keep on going.
"The Cold Light of Day bombed hard on Friday with an estimated $637,000 from 1,511 locations. Raiders of the Lost Ark's IMAX re-release was comparatively stronger, netting $438,000 from just 267 locations. Still, neither movie will earn over $2 million this weekend, and both will fall outside the Top 10. "
The Amazing Spider-Man: Even with 3D ticket pricing, the Spider-Man reboot is the first in the franchise to wind up below $300 million at the domestic box office. Still, it's on pace to earn over $750 million worldwide, which is more than enough to justify the sequel that's currently scheduled for May 2014.

The cold light of day will fall outside the Top 10?? shocking isn't ? even Cavill pretty face can't attract potential audiences to watch this movie, what happened? where is the proof that say Cavill can attract huge money to producers?? to make it worst reviewers very harsh on his acting, did Studio pick the right guy to play Superman???

Mate you got to be kidding. Nothing could make Babs cleave Cavill to her bosom more
Superman will be it's own deal, they already picked the right guy for the role the tremendous audience reaction to him more than enough to justify it. The movie has a good pedigree we'll see if Zack Snyder can pull it off.
Should be no surprise it opening is what it is, almost no promotion, very few reviews and the theater count is thin. In short it's a Intrepid Pictures film.
Favorite Bond Movie: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible, Kingsman: The Secret Service and The November Man or any upcoming actioners starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good since it will help him expand his reputation as an actor especially in the action realm)

Now I'm worried. If the Death Star III ends up following Andy's arachnid's example, then we'll have no choice but to go for freak whether you like it or not.

almost no promotion? so it turns out Henry Cavill movies actually need BIG promotion too, i thought fans of him think his movies didn't need such a thing. many reviewers very2 harsh about his actings, i think he would be the next Pierce Brosnan, an actor who only depend with his pretty face. Thanks god the studio didn't pick him in 2005. The studio made the right decisions for choose Daniel Craig
FBF, join me and admit now it's all over for Bond. Eon will keep this inept drone for 6 more years it seems until we get another one, if we even do, in "2018" Unacceptable wait People in high school now will graduate college in 4 years and DC will still be Bond? No thank you Ms. B Where is Arthur Brain when you need him?

6 more years might mean Chris Nolan getting sucked into directing a DC Bond film. That's another big worry here.
Unless Bond 23 crashes and burns down this November (not to mentioned NO nominations from big American movie awards), James Bond is dead.
The Cold Light of Day debuted outside of the Top 12 with an estimated $1.8 million from 1,511 locations this weekend. Aside from in-theater advertisments and some online placements, the Henry Cavill-Bruce Willis thriller received virtually no marketing, and it wasn't even supposed to be a nationwide release until a week ago. As a result, the movie's utter failure shouldn't be viewed as an indictment of Cavill or Willis; instead, it's simply the result of a cost-conscious studio (Lionsgate/Summit) making the tough call to avoid dumping tens of millions of dollars in to marketing an unappealing movie.

Sorry to say it FBF......throw in the towel...............Eon is hell bent on the platypus remaining as Bond......no matter what

EON keeping DC for 2 more film is not the only thing to worry about? What if Chris Nolan got sucked into directing one of the two?
Unless Bond 23 crashes and burns down (critically and financially) this November and ends up forgotten in the America movie awards department (meaning NO nominations other than the Razzies), the age of traditional tall dark-haired Bond is over, and the age of freaks shall begin.
Bond 23 making less than both CR and QOS both worldwide and here in the US may not guarantee DC will be done, but at least it would mean that this corrupted Bond movie has failed to join the three times the charm Bond movie club, which consists of the third entries of Sean, Rog and Pierce that surpassed their respective predecessors and became the highest Bond movie at their respective time. If Bond 23 enters this club (even surpassing CR worldwide and/or QOS in the US by one bit), send in the freaks as Bond.
