There are a lot of things I did before Bond--like playing the classics on stage--that don't seem to get publicized. So you see, this Bond image is a problem in a way and a bit of a bore, but one has just got to live with it.

Yeah, that Connery. The one who never said, in that quote you pulled out, that he hated the Bond role. He doesn't express the disdain for the role like the way Craig has. In that quote, he's just expressing the downside that comes with the role, namely that the Bond image gets in the way of other roles and eclipses his other work because of its larger-than-life essence. But that doesn't mean he hates it. If anything, he expresses affirmation of the role by saying "one has just got to live with it."
Connery never hated the Bond role? You mean this Sean Connery?

'I have always hated that damned James Bond,' he has said. 'I'd like to kill him.'

Yeah, that same Connery. The one who said that line above, which he said at the time of DAF when he was fed up with Broccoli and Satlzman, but he nevertheless collaborated with McClory and Len Deighton on a rival Bond picture--that's how much he disrespected and hated the role, he was actually willing to play the part again. _./// And, of course, he did. You get my drift? He doesn't vehemently hate the role. It's the business side of the role that angered him, and those quotes you're pulling out are tongue-in-cheek comments from the great actor. This is the same Connery who never resorted to drama queen hyperbole about slashing his wrists at the thought of making another Bond movie. Which is why he, ultimately, stated "one has just got to live with it [the Bond role]." Look, I've met him in person during a charity event years ago. He was very affable when people asked him about his Bond days, and said it was a great role to play. Let's wrap this up with some final quotes (since you're so obsessed with quotes), all spoken by Sir Sean:

I never disliked Bond, as some have thought. Creating a character like that does take a certain craft. It's simply natural to seek other roles.

I care about Bond and what happens to him. You cannot be connected with a character for this long and not have an interest. All the Bond films had their good points.

I thought they timed the release with school holidays.

Special charity screenings often are tallied in opening weekend as well.

Yeah, that makes sense. What kid doesn't want to spend their half-term break watching an alcoholic emotional wreck deal with the loss of his parents?

Some of the comments in the Guardian article reeked of pretentiousness, i'm surprised they didn't adore SF.

Image Indiewire.com: 'While excitement should be building for "Spectre," arguably grabbing more headlines has been Daniel Craig's cranky press tour for the latest James Bond movie. He's let his dissatisfaction take center court, underscoring in multiple interviews he has no real desire to reprise the role, and that he'd only return for the money. In other interviews he's been slightly less hostile, but he hasn't been enthusiastic, and apparently, Sony is tired of it.'

Finally some GOOD stuff to read. You know it's bad when one has got to go to Page Six for the truth, BUT this is indeed the truth. I didn't notice that Ellen Pompeo told him he needs a reality check! I will need to go favorite and retweet that, because she was spot on and she bashed him publicly!

I was watching the introduction scene in Dr.No and webt through some and one went something like:"This scene shows why Connery will always be the only James Bond.ALTHOUGH CRAIG REMINDS US OF CLASSINESS BOND SHOULD HAVE." I don't even know where to start with that.

For all the female posters here, what do you think of this article http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/New ... story.html

Ale: It seems as though there's now an article with craig saying he's confident he'll be doing one more.... :( , http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/dani ... e-spectre/ I really hate this crap that goes into bond today wooh pyschobabble, woooh bond lets someone die..wooooah bond has family issues I mean for beep sake are a lot of us living on the wrong planet or something..why is this pretentious overrated soap opera crap so highly praised, I'm glad I found this forum the world has truly gone mad and yeah I'm glad he was called out on that, a few people have done that recently, if I had a job and mouthed off My employer, the people I worked with I'd get the sack (just like the rest of us) it makes Me sick that footballers and some actors who think they're bigger than everyone else can just get away with this, no doubt beeptre will get massive praise despite all this and this will be sf all over again (ie a steaming turd that seems to be best bond evar to some with a villain who may as well have been called mr soddin coincidence over silva with a q who can hack but can't really make gadgets (hates exploding pens btw), a moneypenny who was in the field because...why not (can't wait to see kung fu m and a ninja cyborg felix leighter (super mecha awesome james bond team gooooo) _.///

I might be socially anxious and not that good with crowds or people, not exactly slim but I look a hell of a lot more like bond and whether I got that money or not I'd gladly act My heart out for that role and ofc the lifestyle as the character is an added bonus

I'm actually glad I'm part Irish (born in UK and part british) because I detest that My country seems to love this beep, even the poster looks depressingly morbid, no raised eyebrows, no smile, no ladies by him or on one of his arms...nope just dank dull boring as beep melodrama with 007 name slapped on it, unlike oliver twist no sir I don't want some more, I will not watch bob the spy in: the brother who was loved more, let's get m killed, what is a quantum?, casino royale but I only just ate..

No offense to other British posters here I just meant the big number that supports this tripe..I mean what's to get excited about anymore, looking at a plasterwall is more exciting than this reboot bond rubbish, why are so many people trying to make fictional characters relatable (it ruined lara croft in that crappy tomb raider reboot (raid tombs...nah I cut stuff and life is sad (no more badass tomb raider), james bond: license to sleep with lots of hot women, drink classy, look like a boss, be a boss, take on a boss, drive like a boss...nah lets examine his sorry little life instead (looks for worlds smallest violin), when you want people to relate to a character you no longer want to be that character, Me and many others wanted to be bond (now tony stark), bond doesn't fight demons he fights bad guys and get the girl, Michael Keatons batman only (for less than a min) thought of what happened to his parents, then the bat signal went and bruce wayne realised he has a job to do as batman, then Bales batman has to be fragile, angry and not very likeable (and retired, far as I know batman never retired it was a fulltime job and he did it because he wanted to).

Why is everyting so bloody backwards in today's world now  (Also when I said about lara being a badass instead of whiny pyscho I didn't mean I want to be her (just thought she was awesome as a person raiding tombs doing it because she wants to and never needed the psychobabble stuff just like bond today (who I wanted to be most of My life).

Whatever they're smoking I want some of it, this is really desperate, where is the class in this bond I sure as hell never saw it. Connery had class, Brosnan had class, Moore had class, Dalton had class, Lazenby had class, everyone before the reboot had class now class means nothing, if having class means letting innocent people die, being reckless, letting more innocent people die and not giving a d**n is class then someone needs to tell the human race to go back 200 years as I want to get off.

About the article...I am guessing the PR machine had this idea. Maybe she really has chemistry with Craig, who knows, but in the trailer there's a scene with him and Monica and if there ever was a definition for wooden and akward...and her appearant claims he is "the best ever" and how "every woman wants to be with Craig in the film".. I mean really??! The last sentence especilly strikes me as nother weak attempt to make the sitution look better now.

I believe that was Stephanie Sigman. I made reference to it in the unofficial novelisation.
