Warner Bros. reports The Man from U.N.C.L.E. earned $900,000 in its start last night. Although expectations are already modest for the adaptation, that falls short of Spy's $1.5 million Thursday start back in June, as well as The Equalizer's $1.5 million last September and Kingsman: The Secret Service's $1.4 million in February. The Guy Ritchie film's older target audience will hopefully turn out over the weekend.

Looks like we are going tomorrow after all. I want to do my bit to boost its opening weekend.

What's the deal with so few screenings? Where I'm at it's only one screen with times I can't make today , fantastic 4 and mi5 have triple the screens at least

Wouldn't matter if uncle was the greatest spy movie ever they can break records or make money if they don't show it enough times

Only one screen in one theatre in my city. The near by bigger city is the same. 4-5 shows a day at each movie theater, only 15 showing total this weekend. How is it in nyc?

Interesting review from a fan of the tv series. Let's hope there is another movie.

Seconded! I've read other fan reviews and most are definitely positive. It seems like this is one of those cases where some critics like to exaggerate, but the public isn't of the same opinion. I won't be able to give my own account for a while because it won't be out until September over here.

This seems to be the case. The current rating on IMDB is 7.8. I don't think it could go much down really. I am sure it will stay above 7.2. Some critics complained about the lack of substance and they think the plot should have been more tightly made. Even if that is the case(I will be the judge when I watch the movie) if the movie is visually stunning as it seems to be if the score is great as I heard and if the movie has that Bond feeling that I got from trailers that is enough in my book to give it a plus. And if it keeps me interested and if I feel good after watching the movie that is more than enough.
And the movie also seems to have more fashion style than the last D&G show.

Review of UNCLE: http://abc7ny.com/entertainment/sandy-k ... le/930203/ Boxoffice.com:Opening in third place on Friday, Warner Bros.' The Man from U.N.C.L.E. pulled a modest $4.865 million estimate. Unfortunately, buzz for the classic television series adaptation never really caught fire (in large part due to strong word of mouth for the current Mission: Impossible flick), leading to a first day that came in nearly 50 percent shorter than The A-Team's $9.66 million in June 2010. Critics have awarded the film a middling 68 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, while Flixster users are more positive at 81 percent. The studio reports a "B" CinemaScore. BoxOffice is projecting an opening weekend around $12.9 million.

Good Lord. Will you look at this stupidity?

‘Spectre’ Director Sam Mendes Says New James Bond Movie Is an Origin Story: ‘This Is Only the Beginning’

Insert violent eyeroll.

I guess he is not informed that the ONLY origin story is CASINO ROYALE, written by the man who CREATED James Bond, Ian Fleming? And this of course explains a lot. The level of stupid this franchise has gotten to is just unprecedented.

And Henry, Mike Fassbender, and all traditionally classy tall looking actors need to stay away from Babs' regime.

I did say that MI:RN might eat into UNCLE's box office. I wasn't expecting it to be beaten into third place by a music biopic, though. It's normally a pretty niche genre.

"...will delve deeper in what made 007 what he is today..." I need GIGANTIC FACEPALM right now.
We've been hearing the same thing ever since that stupid reboot. No,actually we've been hearing that since 1999 when Purvis and Wade became writers. Who influenced him??? I guess his nanny we saw in Wayne Manor.
What angers me the most is the disrespect they show towards old Bond movies. They are basically indirectly saying :"No,we are not doing those 'shallow' movies anymore. Now we are discovering a Bond character. And THIS is Fleming's Bond people!" Someone should remind Barbara that those exact movies put her food and everything she wanted on the table.
