Star Wars Episode VII, Avengers 2 are the big ones. It'll have some competition methinks.
"Dalton makes an effective Bond - lacking Sean Connery's grace and humor, and Roger Moore's suave self-mockery, but with a lean tension and a toughness that is possibly more contemporary" - Roger Ebert

Two years ago, SF is proven to be immune to competition against the likes of the vampires and Middle Earth so I wouldn't be surprised if Bond 24 withstand against the mockingjay and the Jedis. I know that b1tch is up to something as always.

Tell us what she will do FBF. NM grossed $1,694,851 in South Korea and $1,025,930 in France. Why was the UK a non-starter?

BJ do you have a brain? I've been saying this billions of times. She'll do anything to make Bond 24 a success as well as getting Oscar nominations. Remember 2 years ago? Somehow SF was immune to competition against the vampires and Bilbo. Bond 24 may be up against the Jedi next year, but it will do the same thing its predecessor did. Kris and Omega are right. Non-Bond films to root for is not the best weapon anymore, and that includes other spy films. However they can still be our refuge.

I think I have a brain FBF. I was just curious if you read any "inside" knowledge of the green vegetable's plans to make sure Bond 24 outdoes it's competition.

I'm just assuming that based on SF's nonsensical success and recognition, Bond 24 is bound to be more successful than its predecessor. Plus, why would the b1tch bring back Blofeld?

It seems counter to her original concept to deconstruct the Bond saga and she is realizing how far off base she went and that people want the original formula back. Bringing in Blofeld after he was thrown down a chimney stack further defragments the timeline of the saga and we now are left with the ST formula of recreating the future by reliving the past. With Bond, how do you justify the ability to go back in time without a time machine? Where did the Aston Martin and a male M with a leather covered door to his office fit into Skyfall? It didn't. She is coming full circle now getting the stage set possibly for Henry Cavill to be the next James Bond.

First up, the Daily Mail says a press conference will take place during the first week of December to announce the proper title of the new film, as well as the cast and some teaser summary of the story. We’ve known this would happen, as that’s the way Bond production company EON works. EON turns a new Bond announcement into an event.

Specifically, however, the Mail says EON “will announce the star is playing an unknown character called Franz Oberhauser, son of the late Hans Oberhauser, a ski instructor who acted as a father figure to Bond.” But the rumor is that, like John Harrison in Star Trek Into Darkness, who was revealed to be Khan, that character name is a smoke screen with Blofeld being the true character played by Waltz.

Actually, the way I see this is making Pierce's Bond era as though it doesn't exist anymore.

Forget Henry. He's far too good for Bond. The same goes to Fassbender or any other tall and dark haired classic types.

A ski instructor who acted as father figure??
:(

I can see where they could be going. Big mistake! If it is Blofeld stepfather Cinderfella story.

That's actually straight from Fleming. Hannes Oberhauser was killed by Dexter Smythe. In "Octopussy" Bond tracks Smythe down and when asked why he was so interested Bond says:
"MOB Force was a responsibility of my, er, Service. The papers found their way to us. I happened to see the file. I had some spare time on my hands. I asked to be given the job of chasing up the man who did it."

"Why?"

James Bond looked Major Smythe squarely in the eyes. "It just happened that Oberhauser was a friend of mine. He taught me to ski before the war, when I was in my teens. He was a wonderful man. He was something of a father to me at a time when I happened to need one."

"Oh, I see." Major Smythe looked away. "I'm sorry."

Didn't Bond learn to ski in Kitzbuhel? The conversation above shows that Bond wasn't the pure killing machine the recent movie 'incarnation' has made him.
You move very well for a dead man, Mister Bond

Kill him!

Good point Bond used to imply he had a cultured educated upbringing. Not a know it all but well informed. That morphed in to the Hollywood idea of a guy who can fly and drive anything.

My impression form Craig in CR was empty, not in a starting from fresh way but nothing. Maybe a GED ;)

Good point Dr. Bond was a cultured gentleman before he joined MI6. A rookie Bond would still be suave and charismatic. Craig in CR came off as an un-house broken philistine who eats with is hands and belches at the table, hardly the polished gentleman depicted by Fleming.

Good catch. Usually I can recall those little details.

My over all dismay is how this series will play it up.
