DB, they want to go in a COMEDIC direction now. It appears Broccoli thinks Indiana Jones' new cohort matters, and is listening to her suggestions.dirtybenny wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 4:38 pmI think you're right Kris, this story like so many is far too bizarre to believe. A 36 year old M played by what appears to be England's answer to Melissa McCarthy? If (and that is a very big if) there is an validity to this story Bond is truly lost!
Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
That's one of the things that makes me think this story is bs. Phoebe-Waller Bridge said that most of her suggestions for the last film weren't used, but we're supposed to believe that they're giving parts to her friends?

Everyone here should get yesterday's final Jeopardy question in 1 second: Jeopardy is keeping the franchise in the news more than Broccoli is.

Thanks Kris. Dalton to me was great and might have done well because back before Barbara was destroying the franchise the third film for a Bond actor was usually spot on. TND was an awesome Bond film IMO and it's fun to see some of the elements from this treatment ended up in it. By the way, Michael Wilson has lost his way over the years but he penned some solid Bond outings with Dick Mauibaum.Kristatos wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 10:11 am Many people here will be familiar with the 17-page treatment for The Property Of A Lady, Dalton's unmade third Bond film, but apparently there was an actual screenplay. They are stuck with her. But the also have options other partners and studios didn’t.Kristatos wrote:I'm not sure they actually believe that. I think they're more sort of stuck with it. Her dad and Harry Saltzman were shrewd businessmen who managed to negotiate a huge amount of control over the franchise back in the heyday of Bondmania, and she is merely the inheritor of that. Amazon are no doubt putting the pressure on for more content, but their bargaining position is weak.bjmdds wrote:Broccoli is a sick individual for sure, and she is being enabled by her partners as they believe she is the only person on the planet who can be successful with the franchise, which is ridiculous.

So if they go nuclear option Babs wouldn’t really have a chance, they own more rights than she does, and have billions of dollars to spend on this. The broccoli family has always relied on the studios footing the bill for the lawyer fees and putting pressure on the courts.
Playing nice makes more sense, easier and less costly. If Babs in in perpetual hibernation they have to do something. Eon has never had a studio partner who would challenge them, maybe they still don’t. But there has to be some sort of contractual obligation counting down if EON can’t produce a movie the the other half of DanJaq Now Amazon could ask for a new production company take charge. Amazon could make a one off series with the rights for casino Royal and thunderball alone. Doubt they will

I missed this, are there stories about in not breaking even? I’m sure it didn’t but the press at the time of its release tried to act like they saved movie theatersbjmdds wrote:Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the creator of the Fleabag series. As such, when fans of the James Bond franchise saw her name among 4 of the screenwriters credited for No Time to Die, they were ecstatic. However, her involvement with the movie didn’t amount to much as the film allegedly still failed to break even at the box office. To make matters worse, the prolific writer has claimed that she didn’t even do basic research before writing the last Bond film of Daniel Craig........why is she even in Indy 5? Shia Labeouf ruined Indy 4 so why add her on as his appendage to the film? Who do they think will come to see the film if she is in it?

I do think if no time to die had release somewhere near the original planned date it still would be lackluster results, and Babs would have 2 bombs to her name the same year . Which I think would hurt her more back thendirtybenny wrote:Absolutely, a lesser connected producer with her track record would still be sweeping Roger Corman's floor! They had a solid ideas for daltons third, goldeneye was supposedly written for Dalton , it was a solid movie and afterwards cubby’s direction for the series was missed.Jason wrote:Thanks Kris. I say supposedly only because I think by the time they were making this screenplay, they knew that Dalton wasn’t gonna come back. However, I do believe that the first Bond 21 script was written for Pierce Brosnan.

They really don’t, I assumed most sound track are now composed by AI. Jk, but it’s so similar to each other now you only notice the score when it’s really bad.Kristatos wrote:Sadly, Monty Norman is not a household name, and I don't know how many people even pay that much attention to movie composers.kater23 wrote:Amazed that two out of the 3 contestants got it wrong!

I don't know all the details of the contract between Amazon/MGM and EON, obviously. I'm just thinking that the latter holds all the cards based on the assumption that if Amazon could force Babbzy to get off her arse and make a movie once in a while, they'd have done so.Omega wrote: ↑Sun Mar 26, 2023 11:50 pm

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
In Spectre, there's a turning point in the relationship between 007 and the villain when it is revealed that Blofeld is none other than Bond's adopted stepbrother. While not all fans were on board with the creative decision to have the two characters share some family history, Waltz thought it was a "fabulous" development. "I think from a dramatic point of view, or a point of view of drama, it's a fabulous turn," the actor told CinemaBlend.
"A fabulous conflict, a fabulous connection, and very useful for the stories. That's how I felt about it. It heightens the conflict. Everything that heightens the conflict is useful in a drama."------this is why the concept failed because moronic actors like this drone think they know better than the originator of the series did!

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......
I'm afraid I'm a bit confused. Isn't this the same Christoph Waltz who compared Bond (not the stunning and brave Craig films of course) to "Punch and Judy Shows?" Now the master thespian, the arbiter of all things dramatic is championing the most hackneyed of plot contrivances? The "evil brother" trope is so overwrought, such cheap trash, soap operas feel embarrassed for ever inventing it. It's why Austin Powers lampooned it in their film which EON gladly adopted and now the ham in chief exalts? Quite puzzling.bjmdds wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:59 pm In Spectre, there's a turning point in the relationship between 007 and the villain when it is revealed that Blofeld is none other than Bond's adopted stepbrother. Nearly 50 years ago, Doctor Who was going to kill off The Master in a story that revealed he was The Doctor's brother, but Roger Delgado died before the story could be filmed. It probably wasn't a new idea even then.

Looks like Broccoli is busy at work promoting the franchise: The cinematic dream vacation can be purchased thanks to luxury travel outfit Black Tomato’s new partnership with 007 production company Eon. Only 60 spots are available. Five-night trips begin at £15,000 ($18,523) per person. Or for £60,000 you can take a 12-night journey called The Assignment—a glamorous jet around Bond locations in Europe, including London, Paris, Monaco, Lake Como, Venice and the Austrian Alps. Around 30% of spaces have been sold already, according to Black Tomato.

Starting at $18,000?! I doubted there were enough well heeled fan boys to keep this endeavor afloat, then I remembered Aston Martin is still in business.
