Duran Duran are to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame this year.

On a related note, I have been looking at Duran Duran vinyl on Amazon(I have a record player) and it’s amazing how much they want.

Surely your above stooping so low as to make a comment like that.
I was referring to the fact that she is named after the co-writer of the first two Bond films. Presumably an Easter egg for fans.

I misunderstood then, apologies for the assumption. Some of the, shall we say, unenlightened viewpoints here have me on high alert.
UNENLIGHTENED viewpoints? Where? Sounds one-sided in assertion. ALL are enlightened here in this Bond fortress of solitude as we have referred to this forum many times over 15 YEARS of its existence.

You will find a range of views on this forum. The only thing that unites us is our dislike of Craig as Bond, and with you here, not even that.
That’s certainly one way to put it. Happy to play the role of forum disrupter.

Nah, we've had other pro-Craig people on the forum before. Some are genuinely disruptive, and ended up being kicked out, while others like yourself are capable of civilised debate. To be honest, things are not the same now as they were when this place was first launched. I think we had more of a siege mentality back then, as we were pretty much the only Bond fansite on the intertubes where any criticism of the great god Craig was tolerated. Nowadays, opinions on Craig are much more varied, with pro and con views expressed everywhere.

In that case, I think things worked out well in me stumbling upon this board (in humorous fashion, I might add) when I did. I obviously disagree with the foundation of the forum, but everyone probably has at least one Bond they can't stand (Brosnan for me), so it's really not that much different than any other Double-O gathering spot. For what it's worth, I've joined and acclimated to several other Bond boards with the purpose of sharing my writing, yet this is the one I've come back to most often. And I unabashedly view Craig as the best Bond of them all, so there you go.

You're kind to say so. I've no wish to convert anyone. With 6 actors at the center of 25 films spanning 60 years, a diversity of opinion and thought is inevitable. It's one of the most enduring and endearing aspects of this franchise we all love. If you're a Bond fan, I'm a fan of you, no matter your rankings or whatever.

I'm glad you feel so avl, I am a little confused though, isn't Moore your favorite?

I've no wish to covert anyone ether, that's something my detractors on the DCiNB site keep accusing me of, if people love Dan it doesn't bother me in the slightest, we don't, yet we are treated like "science deniers" because of it. I'm glad to have a voice of dissention back in the forum, some healthy debate will help to sharpen my arguments. I also think once a new actor is chosen and we are able to "reassimilate" back into the fandom things will relax some more.

As a side note; as in any forum, you got to take the politics with a grain of salt, I come here to forget the real problems of the world, so long as nobody is denying the holocaust or claiming the earth is flat, just push past it, if you can't there is a dedicated topic for that.

There's enough soap opera in the Craig Bond series without adding subplots about the personal lives of supporting characters. A single line is all that was needed.
I definitely agree, I have no desire for more drama added to the series, my point is solely in reference to the fact this scene like the tampon disposal was added only to score social justice credit, yet was done so rather pathetically in order to make it easily delete-able for "foreign markets." As I've said before the only thing worse than a virtue signal is a cowardly one.

Yes, Moore is my favorite Bond, but I view Craig as the best Bond, if that makes sense. Sort of a 1A/1B situation, I suppose. Moore was always my favorite growing up, and the Bond I have the biggest soft spot for. Craig I came of age with and have a special relationship with. I view him as the best dramatic actor, by far, and his films as being in a league of their own in terms of overall filmmaking quality.

It goes Craig/Moore - Connery - Dalton - Lazenby - Brosnan for me.

I wonder if director Cary Funkycoldmedina's nomination as sex pest of the month last October will help or hurt their chances? Of course they'll win, it's the BAFTAs after all.

There is another 4 film Bond marathon on now on the Sundance cable channel. I was watching the DAD intro and it always hits me how when I saw it in the theater the first time 20 years ago, I left thinking how the movie lost me after Bond was reunited with MI6. The rest of the gene splicing plot and that ice castle was a waste of a production. The ringing of the bells by Bond at the closing scene before the Madonna song unfortunately tolled the ending of Bond for 20 years. I am still waiting to see another Bond film IN PERSON but with Broccoli and her rancid produce of a brain, who knows if I will ever want to see another one in the theaters at the rate she is selecting Bonds and producing films.

Of all of Brosnan's films DAD is the one I rewatch least. That being said, the 1st third to half of the film, essentially from the beginning until after the sword fight, it is actually a great Bond with a great self assured performance by Brosnan. I always thought this could have been a great intro to a Casino Royale adaptation - which lets be honest - is a very slim novel, but could have used it as the type of mission to reintroduce Bond back into the service after his captivity. There would naturally be doubts and suspicions about him, his loyalties and his abilities. I think it wold have been a better structure than Craig's Casino Royale, which is a bit too long and drawn out with the Non CR elements really adding nothing to the core story.

The nonsense of changing one's face and ethnicity into another one via genetic engineering was toooooooooooo far fetched for me and they lost me at that point. The film started out fine and the plot went downhill fast. FYEO, Dr. NO, and GF are on now in succession.

First half of dad was extremely well done
I think the sword fight was where it t started to go down hill.
The secret meeting was ok, with all the 40th anniversary trappings. Then it became a vanity picture for the producers who wanted to ape matrix and kind of show off by using cgi as much as possible, I need to rewatch it as well.

Long time ago me and my buds would do a marathon of all the bond movies. If I have time to watch a movie in a night it’s a miracle, really pick and choose what we watch now. Kind of miss the old days hanging with friends but got to work for a living. Last time I watched dad I think was with that band of miscreants, we’d give the movies the mst3k treatment.

Whishaw – who has played gadget-master Q in the franchise since 2012’s Skyfall – told the BBC in a new interview: “I have absolutely no idea. I know nothing. They are incredibly tight-lipped about everything really. I have a suspicion I won’t be coming back.”.........what are the odds Broccoli casts a WOMAN as the next Q?

John Gardner had a female Q in his novels. If she does, let us hope that she doesn't follow Gardner's example and name her Q'ute Image
