Don't get this weird fixation with his wife myself. It doesn't have much to do with what's on screen. Connery used to beat his wife, does that mean he shouldn't have been cast as Bond?

On the face of it I would agree, however don't forget his legal guardian/wife will be two steps behind him, she's Babz Broccoli 2.0, in fact she and Babz are good friends and it was her who directed the gender bending "woman's day special" referenced in my signature! I just think that with all such rumours, it's only official when it's official. Unless and until there's an announcement from EON, I shall treat it as just another bogus Bond casting story.

I'm sure ABC does care about ratings, but they're probably not that worried. Even the lowest-rated Oscars ceremony (2021, IIRC) still dwarfs pretty much everything else on TV, except the Superb Owl and maybe a couple of other events.

I didn't see the Oscars, but it'll be interesting to see if the ploys they used to reverse the decline in ratings (starting it an hour earlier, having an undoubted hit movie sweep the board, bringing in Ryan Gosling to perform I'm Just Ken) have any effect.
