Bond was not introduced as a rookie 007 in the novel Casino Royale, contrary to Craigspin. Just because Casino Royale is the first novel does not make it the first adventure of Bond. Therefore one cannot justify his portrayal in the film as true to the book.

Surely we know people find other problems with Craig other than his hair colour. Even if the other Bonds were all fair-haired, any casual observer would see that he sticks out due to his looks. :P Hair is a minor concern*, considering the rest we've been given to bear. It made people look petty, sad...

A. An ugly classic-style Bond
B. A handsomer Craig-style Bond

Craig doesn't deserve more than three films. He's the Bourne Experiment. Wrap up his Quantum story, then cast him away. The next guy should have a blank slate too.

Bond is supposed to blend in (it's part of his job), while you'd be best off keeping a safe distance from Craig's Bond. (Even then, he can still sprint up to you and kill you in a heartbeat.)

Notice they hide his wrong hair in shadows, just as they cheated with his wrong hair with the B&W opening of CR... And also they hide the wrinkles.
