Re: Think Again About that Invisible Car

I saw. Here are my General thoughts on it ( with some mild spoilers): 1. It was fine. Just fine. Not top tier Bond, but good enough; 2. Craig actually seems for the first time to be enjoying playing Bond - he even smiles (18 minutes in as my son commented) 3. It could have easily have been edited to...

Re: Think Again About that Invisible Car

Of all of Brosnan's films DAD is the one I rewatch least. That being said, the 1st third to half of the film, essentially from the beginning until after the sword fight, it is actually a great Bond with a great self assured performance by Brosnan. In thinking back however, I realize that for all of ...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

 Originating in Ian Fleming’s literary version of You Only Live Twice, the poison garden is one of a handful of references pulled from the 1964 novel. Though the title was already used for Sean Connery’s fifth James Bond outing, the thematic material was still ripe for influencing the course of ...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

Thanks for the input everyone. It's always nice to discuss Bond with people who are knowledgeable and have a passion for the films and character. I will probably go with FYEO, as It my favourite Roger Moore Bond (by an ever so slight margin). But no matter which one I watch, I will do so with a larg...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

So, this Friday, I am on my own (wife and puppy are gone for the weekend), and with midterms over, and the marking down, I will be settling down to watch a Bond movie. I feel like a lean, grounded Bond, so here are my choices: From Russia with Love; For Your Eyes Only (Currently the preferred choice...

Re: Dirty Benny's Weekly Rant

[ Yes I agree, money Is king, and the safe money is following the trend as the safe bet, not the creative opportunities. If it were down to me, I'd go the opposite way. Bond is a naval intelligence officer ( the clue is in the word intelligence), not a body builder into parkour . He also loves his j...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

I think the villain disfigurement goes all the way back to Fleming, who if I remember correctly from a biography I read about him, had a fascination with and abhorrence of physical deformities and quite often used them as a physical representation of an inner ugliness. Yes, I know there's a long tr...

And inevitably, here's a bit of reconsideration of the value Pierce Brosnan brought to the series:

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

My hope now is that they treat this era as 5 movie stand alone series that is not related to the classic era. Let's be honest, the need to reboot Bond in the first place is a periodic response the series has done to redress the need for every movie to top the preceding ones and the tendency to repla...
