Re: The Man From U.N.C.L.E.: Film Adaptation

Has anyone heard from John P Drake recently? He started this thread, and given his love of the Eurospy genre, I think he would enjoy the film. i believe he like it, and i hope he would go to the cinema again and again countless time, and promoting The meh from unlce to friends or relatives, in orde...

Re: The BJMDDS General Discussion Thread......

I saw the film thanks to my friend who owns a movie theater and it's bloody GREAT!! NOW I understand why it did so badly in the US. Because it's WAY too refined for US audiences, and despite Solo in theory being American, the movie is distinctly European. the movie is distinctly european? is the mo...

Total Lifetime Grosses: Man Of Steel Domestic: $289,023,787 44.6% + Foreign: $359,500,000 55.4% = Worldwide: $648,523,787 Cavill did not exactly set the box office on fire here. It did the $650 million projected BUT that is a huge blow to the studio given the budget. A sequel off this? Iron Man des...

Re: Your favourite Daniel Craig gunbarrel?

Because it's in a toilet , where I believe the series was heading (and is now ). But I assumed my quoting Kristatos' quote was supposed to be self-evident. Oh, and since I know exactly where YOU are coming from (and are going with this) based on your posting history, I have nothing more to say to y...

Re: Your favourite Daniel Craig gunbarrel?

[ CR's only advantage concept-wise is that it's close enough at the beginning of the film, but the toilet-setting renders it laughable despite all their "serious" intentions at being a "hardcore', "gritty", "back-to-basics", "no-hold-barred", "bold-statement" of a *reboot*. <flush> why it laughable?

Re: Skyfall - 5 Oscar nominations

Anything goes, Saint 007? Let's say we make this permanent. The fact that Skyfall's bland score gets nominated, while John Barry's great Bond scores didn't get any Oscar recognition, pretty much seals the deal that the anything goes guideline should be made permanent. Skyfall got 5 nominations whil...

Re: Worst/Daftest Moments of the Craig Era

The difference between the Brosnan films and the Craig films is between the unlikely and the impossible. You could compare the fall at the beginning of Skyfall to the fall at the beginning of Goldeneye. In Skyfall, Bond is shot and falls about three hundred feet and lives. Obviously, people get sho...

Re: Worst/Daftest Moments of the Craig Era

Ah yes, it's tehmanis, who yet again dissects every little bit of my post with arguments that greatly consist of Brosnan bashing. are Brosnan bashing illegal here? Every Bond has had outlandish moments, and Craig is certainly no exception, as you can see by the many examples that have been l...

Re: Worst/Daftest Moments of the Craig Era

I also don't understand all this nonsense about Craig being the most hardcore and realistic in comparison to the former Bond actors either. as compare to Roger Moore? or Brosnan? i agree with you Craig may be not MOST hardcore, but if we compare Craig performance with ROger "Clown" Moore or with Pr...

Re: Skyfall for Oscars?

As I said before, some of the Bond films had influences from other popular films at the time, but it wasn't taken to such an extreme that most people couldn't recognize it as a Bond film. Sorry, but if you think From Russia with Love is PURE creation ideas of cinematic Bond is really ridiculous, be...

Re: Skyfall for Oscars?

First off, tehmanis, I understand that some of the Bond films had influence from other popular films at the time. However, it didn't take it to such an extreme that it didn't feel like a Bond film. Moonraker for example, had a bit of a Star Wars influence to it, but it didn't feel like you were wat...

Re: Skyfall for Oscars?

Give me a break. There's no statistical evidence that the series needed a reboot anyway. where do you get statistic from? when talking about film we can't get long time series of data to predict behavior or trend of the films. This crap talking about Bourne influence the current bond film are stupi...

BAFTA equivalent to an Oscar? More like a Golden Globe, I'd say. An award for which Pierce was nominated twice. BAFTA equally as Oscar in my opinion, btw Pierce being nominated Golden Globe as Bond? when? :D as long as i remember Brosnan got razzies nominantion for worst screen couple, what a shame...

Daniel Craig is more Popeye than Rambo, crashing through walls and ripping off door handles with his bare hands, made all the more ludicrous by the fact that these are supposed to be serious, Oscar-worthy dramas, lovey. Craig got Bafta nominations which is equivalent with Oscar  Brosnan? ow...
