Re: Skyfall: The Unofficial Novelisation
Double oops and apologies for above post. It was intended for another, and just caught it many, many weeks later (today).

Re: The Last Movie You Watched
Black Dynamite! This is one of the most satisfying laugh-a-minute films, a hidden gem. Out of five bezants I give it a very solid 4.5! Made in 2009, but in the style (or lack) of Blaxploitation films ... similar cinematography, with a cool-great sound track (lots of wah wahts). Some memorable lines ...

Re: Dwayne the Rock in a Bond film
I would have no objections, I think he'd make a threatening physical villain. Maybe when the next Bond takes over... Yesh, I agree. But as Omega sez, he's has too nice an image to actually 'hate' as the villain. But likely he can surprise everyone by being totally ruthless. Then we'll see the out-t...

Quite .... impressive, Commander! Miss Gibraltar certainly rocks. Do you tool around much in the white rolls? (Assume that your chauffer breaks golf balls bare-handed! Seriously, though, looks like a dream come true, very happy for you guys.

Dwayne the Rock in a Bond film
Several things have been happening in the Dwayne "don't call me the Rock" Johnson universe: he was reported killed shooting a movie*. I am a mild Rock fan, as he seems an affable guy who wears celebrity well. So, while surfing I note that it was his dog that died. That another rumor is that he was o...

You should feature a suave chimp with big ears in a tight-fitting tux.

Re: From Russia With Love (1963)
Maybe the Orient Express has been romanticized in books and films (not only by Fleming) in such ways to make it seem it was an adventure to travel, and that a lot of stuff happened on it, while in real life it was a bit tedious to go by train for several days and nights. A friend just told me...

Aston Martin. A girl painted in gold. Martini. Shaken not stirred. Uttered for the first time."Do you expect me to talk?" "No,Mrs. Bond I expect you to die!" "My name is Pussy Galore." "I must be dreaming." Do I really nned to say the score? It would be even more thrilling if a chimp played Bond. "...

Re: From Russia With Love (1963)
IMO it's the best Bond movie. Score out of 5?10. The sheer title is brilliant. Yes, Fleming had a way with words, to say the least. Some people say he was not a great writer. I disagree. He didn't have the great volume of work of other writers, but what he wrote was wonderful stuff. The mark of a g...

Re: From Russia With Love (1963)
Reading the novel, wasn't the Orient Express the stuff of legend, and not the real OE? What do you mean? It did exist, it was a railway route between Istanbul and Paris where you could travel rather luxurious. It ended in 1977. It's sometimes been depicted in books and films, like Agatha Christie's...

The title could be Under Corset or Under Weight tagline: The New Slim Ryback! or maybe "Watch chef Ryback bake a five-tier wedding cake, and eat it all by himself!"FormerBondFan wrote:US3 would be like a MadTV Steven Seagal movie.

Re: The Early 1970s Era
Not to beat a dead horse, since this is a Bond site ... but I've just received an email from a Lee historian; I don't know if I should disclose his name without permission. I'll just say that he has top credentials as a researcher. He writes that he hasn't heard anything about BL being approached by...

Re: From Russia With Love (1963)
After Jamaica, Istanbul was somewhat of a letdown. One of the strengths of FRWL, however, is that it is probably the most 'serious' of the Bonds, so he should be in a less glamorous setting. Reading the novel, wasn't the Orient Express the stuff of legend, and not the real OE? Kerim Bey seemed more ...

I was surprised that Bond (DAF) didn't know much about diamonds; possibly he was just being humble.

Gasp. I'm so excited that I'll wait till a friend buys the DVD a couple of months from now ... can't wait: a scowling Craggs playing a charming (cheesy?) 'Bond' without the charm or even quality cheese.

Re: POLL: Dr No perfect first Bond film?
Connery is great in YOLT, it's only in the Little Nellie scene he looks a bit bored but in the rest of the film he is as good as ever. Somehow people are under the impression he looked bored in all of YOLT just because of the Little Nellie scene. Maybe Connery had a bad day when they shot th...
Re: Halloween
I was thinking more recent adult costumes. A few years ago a group of friends and co-friends (friends of friends and even a dad or two) converged in San Francisco. We agreed to meet in one of the gay sections of the city, don't ask me why. Plenty of fun night. Commander0077 was, yes, wearing a dinne...

TSWLM, which has the song Bond '77, which is why there is a Commanderagain0077 :happybd: Of course, it would be many years before I knew who Bond was, TLD was my first Film Bond; OHMSS was my first Bond book. Re: POLL: Dr No perfect first Bond film?
For the sheer most brilliant Bond introduction ever-YES. The casino scene is brilliant, and notice how self confident Connery looks even in his first portrayal as 007. Many people have said he became better in subsequent Bond films, but I think he was awesome in this first film. I'm not talking abo...
